Bologna are set to sign Spanish-Moroccan midfielder Aaron Velilles, one of Real Betis’ top youth prospects.

The Italian club has agreed a two-year contract with an option for two additional seasons.

The 18-year-old will initially join the under-20s side, with plans to start training with the first team during the 2024-2025 campaign.

Although Velilles had a contract with Betis until 2025, the Spanish club will not receive a transfer fee. They do, however, retain a percentage of any future sale and could earn around €500,000 in variables.

Born in Lleida, Spain, in 2006, Velilles has chosen to represent Morocco, having played four games for their under-18s in 2024, contributing two assists. His brother, Luis Velilles, who also plays in the Betis academy, chose Morocco after excelling in Spain’s youth ranks.

With the departure of Jairo Morilla to Real Madrid, Betis has lost another academy talent. The clubs are still negotiating financial compensation for Morilla, even though Madrid has no contractual obligation to provide it.
