Real Madrid and Getafe have reached an agreement for academy player Peter Federico, who was announced as a new signing for Jose Bordalas’ team on a four-year contract.

According to sources involved in the deal, Madrid will receive €2m and hold a 50 per cent sell-on clause, as well as reserving a right of first refusal. The Dominican Republic international’s clause at Getafe will be €25m.

The Athletic had reported that Valencia would not exercise the option to buy Peter, who had arrived at Mestalla on loan in January. Valencia considered the price, around €2m, excessive given their poor finance situational and also wanted to prioritise other operations.

This did not, though, rule out them out of signing Peter at a later date. However, there were other clubs interested and Getafe moved quickly for the skilful 21-year-old, who made his debut and played three games for Madrid’s first team under Carlo Ancelotti.
