Susan Sarandon was uncompromising when it came to her family’s diet, according to her daughter Eva Amurri.

Amurri revealed that her mother, 78, was an “almond mom” in an interview with SheKnows, published Thursday, November 21. (Sarandon shares Amurri with filmmaker Franco Amurri and two sons, John “Jack” Henry, 35, and Miles Robbins, 32, with actor Tim Robbins.)

“My mom was a tried and true ‘almond mom,’” Amurri, 39, shared. “She actually used to walk down to the Village to the only organic grocery store that existed in New York City in the early ’80s and would get everything there.”

Amurri added, “My mom thought Cheerios [were] a junk food — that is how almond mom she was.”

While her kids are now grown adults, Sarandon continues to encourage members of her family to eat healthily.

The influencer added that her mom kept sending Amurri’s children, Marlowe, 10, Major, 8, and Mateo, 4, “disgusting cereal” that they wouldn’t eat.

Amurri admitted she eventually “had to stop being nice about it” so Sarandon wouldn’t  continue sending the actress’ grandchildren the healthier, albeit less appealing, cereal.

It’s not the first time glimpses of what it was like being raised by Sarandon have been brought to light.

Speaking to Us Weekly in 2018 to promote her film A Bad Moms Christmas, Sarandon shared a hilarious anecdote of what it was like being a parent after working as an actress.

The Oscar winner revealed that one of the first times her kids saw her work on screen really stood out as memorable.

She divulged that she was being honored by the Lincoln Center, which showed a montage of her work, including scenes from 1983’s The Hunger, which featured her locking lips with costar Catherine Deneuve.

“I think Miles was 7 and Jack was 10 and so Eva would’ve been around 14 … they showed bits and pieces of films and not anything full-frontal or anything like that, but kissing Catherine Deneuve. I looked over and [my son] was like …” she recalled, reenacting his jaw-dropping expression. “And my husband’s kind of laughing and Eva was hysterical.”

She continued: “Afterwards, I said, ‘Well what’d you think, guys?’ And Jack said, ‘Did it never occur to you that you might have children?’ And Miles said, ‘I thought it was great, mom, but scarring.’ So, I don’t encourage them to see anything [I’m in]. They’re older now, but I figure they’ll take it at their own pace.”
