20. West Seventh
Next to Downtown, bordering the Mississippi River, is West Seventh. The neighborhood is characterized by the Mississippi National River & Recreation Area, which is 72 miles of kayaking, hiking, canoeing, and other riverfront activities. There are many restaurants, coffee shops, and cafes located throughout the neighborhood you can explore in your free time. Biking is a great option to get around in West Seventh since the Bike Score is 77. It’s also pretty walkable with a Walk Score of 69. West Seventh is another historic Saint Paul neighborhood with historic homes in Craftsman, Colonial, and Victorian styles. You’ll find lots of tree-lined streets with charming homes, condos, and apartments.
21. West Side
West Side is just across the river from Downtown Saint Paul and is known for its history and parks. You’ll find scenic spots like High Bridge Overlook, the Wabasha Street Caves, Harriet Island Regional Park, the Brickyard Hiking Trail, and Raspberry Island. There are also lots of restaurants in District Del Sol and events throughout the year like the annual Cinco de Mayo Festival. There are a mix of apartments and townhomes in West Side, but the majority of the housing options are single-family homes. You can find historic homes and more modern houses, ranging in style from bungalow to Craftsman and Victorian.
