Liverpool have agreed a fee of around £10million with Red Bull Salzburg for the sale of midfielder Bobby Clark.
The 19-year-old England youth international has been given the green light to travel to Austria to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.
Liverpool have also negotiated a 17.5 per cent sell-on clause.
The Athletic reported on Sunday that Salzburg had stepped up their pursuit of Clark with an offer of around £8m, which was subsequently rejected.
Salzburg, who are managed by former Liverpool assistant boss Pep Lijnders, were always hopeful that a compromise could be reached with the player enthusiastic about the opportunity to play Champions League football.
Clark missed Liverpool’s recent pre-season tour of the U.S. due to a back problem but returned to training at Kirkby earlier this month.
Liverpool had been considering a loan move for Clark with Championship clubs Norwich City, Leeds United, Sheffield United and Coventry City among his suitors. However, Salzburg’s persistence opened the door to a permanent transfer.
Clark, who joined Liverpool’s academy from Newcastle United in 2021, made rapid progress last season as he registered 12 senior appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The interest from Salzburg was no surprise given how much he flourished under the coaching of Lijnders and Vitor Matos, who is now the Dutchman’s No 2.
