The Baltimore Ravens struck another deal ahead of the NFL trade deadline, reaching an agreement to acquire Los Angeles Rams star cornerback Tre’Davious White, league sources said Tuesday.

The Ravens (6-3) will receive White, a two-time All-Pro and Pro Bowler, along with a 2027 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick from the Rams (4-4).

Baltimore landing White could prove to be a beneficial last-minute move after dealing with secondary concerns throughout the season. The club, while boasting the NFL’s No. 2 scoring offense, has allowed the most passing yards per game (280.9 yards per game) in the league and ranks in the bottom 10 in points allowed (24.3) through nine weeks.

For the Rams, the move comes amid a three-game winning streak. A free-agent signing this past offseason, White has been a healthy scratch since Week 5 and was later granted permission to seek a trade in late October.

Why the Ravens made the move

The Ravens were in talks with the New Orleans Saints about standout cornerback Marshon Lattimore, but they were unwilling to offer the quality of draft capital that the Washington Commanders ultimately did. The Ravens have the No. 32 pass defense in football and they’ve struggled during the season to keep their cornerbacks healthy. Veterans Marlon Humphrey, Arthur Maulet and Jalyn Armour-Davis, first-round pick Nate Wiggins and fourth-round pick T.J Tampa have all missed time during the season with various injuries.

This year has been a struggle for White, but it seems highly unlikely that he’ll have a prominent role unless Baltimore has a few more cornerback injuries. White is a well-respected veteran and he has plenty of experience. White, Rams partnership fizzles out

The Rams were open about wanting to work with White and his agents to get a trade done after making him a healthy scratch. White’s start to the year was tough — he was targeted 18 times for 12 catches and a 138.4 passer rating, plus four touchdowns and no interceptions according to Pro Football Reference. There are layers to it, though — upon his signing in the spring the Rams were clear that they didn’t expect White, who was coming back from an Achilles repair the previous fall, to be on the field full time until November. Yet a combination of injuries to other cornerbacks and a delay by the front office in bringing in veteran depth meant White played the majority of snaps to open the year.

Head coach Sean McVay indicated the possibility when reflecting on the matter in October that White perhaps was not totally ready for that level of workload. McVay and the Rams applauded the way White handled his role change as did his teammates. — Jourdan Rodrigue, Rams beat writer
