The Ravens may have had more team success recently, but the premier AFC rivalry game has belonged to Pittsburgh recently. The Steelers have won seven of the last eight matchups but are home underdogs coming into number nine.
How to watch Ravens at Steelers
Baltimore is favored thanks to the NFL’s best offense, leading everyone in touchdowns, yards per game and EPA per play. With Lamar Jackson playing his way toward a third MVP, they’re averaging more than seven yards per play and have scored 30 or more points in six of their last seven games. But Pittsburgh has allowed the second-fewest points per game in the league (16.7) and has a game-wrecker in T.J. Watt to throw at Jackson, along with a top-four run defense to slow down Derrick Henry.
Defense has always been front and center in this rivalry, but the Steelers have a considerable edge this season. The Ravens run-stopping numbers are the NFL’s best, but their pass defense is a massive vulnerability. No one allows more pass yards per game than the Ravens, and they are particularly vulnerable to what Russell Wilson does best. Baltimore has allowed the highest EPA in the league on passes over 10 yards and the fifth-highest completion rate over expected.
Wilson unlocked the Steelers deep game when he took over as quarterback, and Pittsburgh receivers have the fourth-most yards per target with him throwing the ball. George Pickens and newcomer Mike Williams are the perfect wideouts for Wilson’s patented “moon balls,” and the Steelers’ pass game is humming heading into a battle for the division lead.
