The 38-year-old is bringing down the curtain on a sparkling tennis career at this week’s Davis Cup, where he is competing for Spain.
It is in this format of competition where Nadal burst onto the scene all the way back in 2004, so it is a fitting place for him to call it a day representing his country again.
Obviously, this is competitive tennis so we don’t know for sure when his last match will be, but it will be this week at some stage.
It could be today as he faces Botic Van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands in Spain’s quarter-final match.
