Paralympian Sam Ruddock located safe after being reported missing in Las Vegas

British paralympian Sam Ruddock has been located safe after being reported missing in Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that a missing person report was filed on April 24 and that the individual was found in the investigation.

Ruddock had last been heard from on April 16. His friend Lucy Hatton, a former Team GB hurdler, confirmed on social media he had been located and thanked people for their support.

“Sam is alive, Sam is well,” she said. “I obviously need to get more status update but I don’t care, let’s get that boy home.”

Hatton said Ruddock had travelled alone to attend Wrestlemania 42 in Las Vegas on April 13 and was supposed to check out of his hostel near Las Vegas Boulevard on April 15 and was later scheduled to travel to New York and Texas as part of his trip. She told The Athletic she became concerned when Ruddock went “radio silent”.

Ruddock, who has cerebral palsy, represented Great Britain at the London 2012 Paralympics in the 100m and 200m and competed at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the shot put event.

The 35-year-old made the switch to cycling in 2018 and won gold in the track cycling C1 1,000m time trial at the 2023 World Para-Cycling Championships.
