Nottingham Forest have made a fresh bid for Santiago Gimenez but the offer is still thought to fall below Feyenoord’s valuation of the striker.
Forest have stepped up their efforts to sign the Mexico international, 23, after failing to complete a deal for Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah.
Forest could not finalise an agreement with Nketiah despite agreeing a package worth around £30million ($39.6m) with Arsenal. Crystal Palace are now considering a move for the 25-year-old.
And Forest have resumed their efforts to sign Gimenez, who has scored 40 goals in 64 appearances for Feyenoord since joining them from Cruz Azul in 2022.
Gimenez was born in Argentina but opted to play for Mexico, where he lived for much of his childhood. He has won 30 caps for Mexico, scoring four goals.

Forest want to bolster their forward options, to provide competition for the in form Chris Wood — who has scored 12 goals in 18 appearances under Nuno Espirito Santo — and Taiwo Awoniyi, who had a disrupted pre-season while dealing with a family issue.
Forest have made eight summer signings so far, with Elliot Anderson, Nikola Milenkovic, Ramon Sosa, Jota Silva Marko Stamenic, Carlos Miguel, Eric Moreira and David Carmo all having joined.
Carmo, a defender, joined on a five-year deal from Porto earlier on Sunday, before immediately heading on loan to Olympiacos, where he had previously been on loan in the second half of last season.
