Manchester City have completed the signing of Vitor Reis from Palmeiras.
The teenage defender has signed a four-and-a-half year contract at City through to the summer of 2029, after The Athletic reported an initial fee of €35million (£29.5m, $35.8m) had been agreed between the clubs.
“I’m excited to join Manchester City, one of the biggest clubs in the world,” Reis said. “Everyone has seen the amazing achievements in recent seasons, and I want to make my mark as we seek more trophies.
“Working with Pep Guardiola is something every young player wants to do, and I know he can help me to develop into the best player I can be.
“City also have a lot of experience of working with Brazilian footballers and joining the likes of Ederson and Savinho in the squad will be a big help to me.”
The Brazilian’s arrival continues a busy January transfer window for City, having signed defender Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens and reached a verbal agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for the transfer of forward Omar Marmoush.
Reis has been capped by Brazil up to under-17 level and has made 22 first-team appearances for Palmeiras since making his senior debut in June.
The 19-year-old signed his first professional contract with Palmeiras towards the end of the 2022 season, penning a deal through 2025, and swiftly established himself as a regular starter in central defence for Abel Ferreira’s side.
The defender came through the Palmeiras youth system at the same time as forwards Endrick and Luis Guilherme, who moved on to Real Madrid and West Ham United respectively in 2024. Estevao Willian, his 17-year-old team-mate, will join Chelsea this summer.
