Juventus defender Gleison Bremer is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after injuring the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
The 27-year-old sustained the problem during his side’s 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Bremer was subbed off after six minutes of the game at the Red Bull Arena after a shoulder challenge with Leipzig forward Lois Openda.
Juventus confirmed on Thursday that the Brazilian will undergo surgery in “the next few days.

Bremer has made eight appearances for Juventus this campaign, helping them win three of their opening six Serie A games without conceding a goal. He has also captained the side on two occasions this season.
The centre-back had been included in Dorival Junior’s Brazil squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chile (October 11) and Peru (October 16).
Juventus also confirmed that winger Nicolas Gonzalez, who joined the club on loan from Fiorentina in August, has undergone tests on an injury to his right thigh that he sustained during the victory over Leipzig.
The 26-year-old Argentina international was replaced by fellow new signing Francisco Conceicao after 12 minutes. Conceicao, 21, went on to score the winning goal as ten men Juventus came back from 2-0 down to complete a memorable comeback in Germany.
Gonzalez was included in Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela (October 10) and Bolivia (October 16).
Juventus are second in Serie A, two points behind league leaders Napoli. They are next in action against Cagliari at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.
