Ipswich Town have completed the signing of forward Julio Enciso on loan for the rest of the season.
The Athletic previously reported the 21-year-old was set to complete a temporary move to Portman Road after the two sides came to an agreement.
The loan deal does not include an option to make the move permanent and Ipswich will cover Enciso’s wages in full.
The Paraguay international has been keen on a move away from the Amex Stadium in a bid to get more game time after being reduced to a bit-part role this campaign.
He has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season with the majority of those being from the bench.
Serie A side Atalanta were among the list of clubs that expressed an interest in the forward before he completed his move to Ipswich.
“I am so happy to be here,” Enciso told TownTV. “The conversations with the manager have been good. I am very grateful to him and the club for believing in me. I can’t wait to get going.
“I’m a real fighter and I will do my best in every game.”
Enciso becomes Ipswich’s third January signing after the arrivals of defender Ben Godfrey and winger Jaden Philogene.
It marks the second time in successive January windows Ipswich have brought in a player on loan from Brighton, with Jeremy Sarmiento spending the second half of last season at Portman Road.
Enciso could be involved for the first time on Saturday as 18th-placed Ipswich travel to Premier League leaders Liverpool.
