The late, great Bob Uecker left us with so many smiles that I wanted to pay tribute to his amazing baseball life with this collection of Bob Uecker Fun Facts.
• Played in the same “Major League” movie as Charlie Sheen. Played on the same major-league team as Charley Lau.
• Called games played by Corbin Burnes (in real life) and Corbin Bernsen (in the movies).
• Appeared in more episodes of “Mr. Belvedere” (118) than games for the Braves — in three seasons (108).
• Hosted “Saturday Night Live” more times than Denzel Washington. OK, so it was 1-0, but whatever!
• Hit more home runs off Hall of Famers (three) than Kenny Lofton (one).
• Hit as many home runs off Sandy Koufax as Willie McCovey (one).
• Got as many hits in the big leagues as Danny Ainge (146), although Ainge did play 1,042 more NBA games than him.
• He showed up in the same box scores as Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, Warren Spahn, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Joe Torre, Dick Allen, Jim Bunning, Tim McCarver, Ferguson Jenkins, Felipe Alou and Phil Niekro.
• He showed up on the same TV screen as Johnny Carson, Tony Danza, Alyssa Milano, Mister T, Jason Bateman, Tony Randall, Fred Willard, Seth Green, Dr. Joyce Brothers, Mrs. Marie Barone (Doris Roberts), Clarence Clemons and, of course, Fergie.
Bob Uecker’s appearance on Johnny Carson were always must see TV.

• He showed up in the same Miller Lite commercials as Rodney Dangerfield, John Madden, Dick Butkus, Bubba Smith, George Steinbrenner, Red Auerbach, Tom Heinsohn, Paul Hornung, Billy Martin, Boog Powell and many others!
• He showed up in the same wrestling extravaganzas as Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura.
• His first big-league at-bat was against Don Drysdale. His last big-league at-bat was against Bob Gibson.
• He batted 1.000 against one knuckleballer (Wilbur Wood) — but committed 25 passed balls in one season trying to catch another (Phil Niekro).
• And he once played against a team managed by Casey Stengel, who was born in 1890 (35 years after the Civil War) — then later broadcast games played by Jackson Chourio, who was born in 2004. (Hat tip to MLB Network research genius Matt Orso for that one!)
