Fiorentina's Moise Kean discharged from hospital after collapsing on pitch from head injury

Fiorentina forward Moise Kean has been discharged from hospital after collapsing on the pitch following a head injury in his side’s Serie A match at Hellas Verona on Sunday.

Kean was immediately taken to hospital in Verona after after sustaining a “head trauma”, following a collision with Verona players Pawel Dawidowicz and Diego Coppola — a knee to the face left the Italy international with a cut above his eye.

The 24-year-old striker returned to the pitch with a bandaged head but collapsed on the field shortly after coming back on. Kean was stretchered off in a neck brace in the 67th minute.

“During the night, Moise Kean was discharged from the Verona hospital and has returned to Florence,” a Fiorentina statement read on Monday morning.

“All clinical and diagnostic tests performed came back negative.”

When play resumed, Verona’s Antoine Bernede scored the only goal of the game in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Sunday was the second time this season that Fiorentina have had a player collapse during a game. Midfielder Edoardo Bove, on loan at the club from Roma, was taken to hospital after losing consciousness against Inter on December 1. The match was subsequently suspended and Bove has not played since the incident.

Kean, formerly of Everton and Paris Saint-Germain, has scored 20 goals in 30 appearances for Fiorentina since joining from Juventus last July.
