Filip Jorgensen will keep his Chelsea place in goal for Tuesday’s game against Southampton despite his costly error in the 2-1 loss at Aston Villa.
Jorgensen was at fault for Chelsea losing the game in the 89th minute as he allowed a tame shot from Marco Asensio to go under his body in Saturday’s match at Villa Park.
The 22-year-old has started Chelsea’s last three Premier League games after Robert Sanchez was dropped by Maresca for making high-profile mistakes.
But Maresca is not going to revert back to Sanchez now. He said: “If we need to change players every time there is a mistake, we need to change many players game by game. Nothing has changed.
“He (Jorgensen) is ok. He feels a little sad or upset because he recognised there was a mistake.”
Chelsea go into the game without defender Trevoh Chalobah due to the leg injury he sustained in the eight minute at Villa Park.
Maresca added: “He had a check yesterday and he will be out for around a week to 10 days. So on one side it is good (news) because it is not an important injury. On the other side it’s a shame because we lose another player in this moment with the amount of injuries that we have.”
Meanwhile, Maresca insists he is not worried about Cole Palmer’s performances despite the England international being on the worst run of form of his Chelsea career.
Palmer has now gone six games without a goal or assist and missed two great chances to put Chelsea in front when the score was still 1-1.

At this rate, Chelsea and Maresca will be left relying on Conference League success
But Maresca said: “I am always concerned about general performance, but I am not concerned about Cole because he is a human being.
“During the season he can have moments where he struggles a little bit more. The problem with Cole is we probably rely on him for everything and I said from the start that we need to rely on the team. For sure we need top players like Cole but we are not worried about Cole at all.
“He just needs to continue working in the way he is working. Yes he had great chances. Every game we expect a goal or an assist, but it is difficult.
“At this moment his performance reflects the team performance that we struggle to score goals and we need to be more clinical. Cole is just upset that we are not winning games, no more than that.”
