Arsenal duo David Raya and Ethan Nwaneri will have new squad numbers for the 2025/26 season.
Goalkeeper Raya has taken the number one shirt, which had been vacated by Aaron Ramsdale after his move to Southampton last summer. Nwaneri, who had worn the number 53 this season, has taken Raya’s number 22.

Nwaneri’s move to 22 represents his standing in the Arsenal squad. He became the youngest ever Premier League player after making his debut in September 2022 at the age of 15 and 181 days. Nwaneri came on that day at Brentford wearing the number 83 shirt.
Now an established member of the first team, the now 18-year-old has scored nine goals and provided two assists in 36 appearances this campaign.
Nwaneri’s fellow Hale End academy graduate Myles Lewis-Skelly has also established himself as a regular in the Arsenal first team this season, making 40 appearances in all competitions and scoring on his England senior debut in March.
The 18-year-old posted a picture on social media on Thursday that insinuated that he would be keeping his number 49 shirt for the upcoming season.
Prior to Raya selecting the number 22 shirt in the summer of 2023, it had been previously worn by Pablo Mari, Denis Suarez, Jeff Reine-Adelaide, Yaya Sanogo, Francis Coquelin, and Gael Clichy.
Raya joins a list of Arsenal players to wear the number one for the club, including Ramsdale, Bernd Leno, Petr Cech, Wojciech Szczesny, Manuel Almunia, Jens Lehmann, and David Seaman.
Arsenal still have several squad numbers available, including the number 10 shirt that has been vacant since Emile Smith Rowe’s transfer to Fulham last summer and number 14 that was vacated by Eddie Nketiah upon his move to Crystal Palace.
The new kit numbers came alongside the release of Arsenal’s new 2025/26 home shirt on Thursday.
As has become a yearly tradition, Arsenal will debut the new design in their final home game of the season against Newcastle United on Sunday.
