Danny Jansen will become the first player in MLB history to play for both teams in the same game when the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays resume a June 26 game on Monday night.
Back in June, Jansen was playing for the Blue Jays. When the rain delay was called, Jansen was at the plate with one out and one on in the top of the second. After a near two-hour delay, the Red Sox and Blue Jays said the game would resume in a doubleheader on Aug. 26.
For the last two months, the box score of that game said Jansen is still batting.
With the game scheduled to resume post-trade deadline, Jansen was traded for the first time in his career — to the team the Blue Jays were playing that June 26 night.

Jansen was a 2013 draft pick by Toronto and made his major league debut in 2018. He played the first 6 1/2 years of his career there before being traded to Boston. In exchange, Toronto received infielders Cutter Coffey and Eddinson Paulino along with right-handed pitcher Gilberto Batista.
Since being acquired, Jansen has played 14 games for the Red Sox, slashing .231/.333/.385 and hitting two home runs.
The Red Sox are currently third in the American League East at 67-62. The Blue Jays sit in the cellar of the division at 63-68.
