If you’re after searing HDR highlights that make you almost feel the blast of an explosion or the sun’s rays on a tropical isle, Hisense’s 65-inch U8N (8/10, WIRED Recommends) gives it to you at a price you really can’t beat. This TV is one of the brightest we’ve ever tested, yet it knows how to take things down at night, with excellent black levels and minimal light bleed. You’ll also get punchy quantum dot colors, and great gaming features, including VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) at up to 144 Hz for smooth action. Like nearly all LED TVs, it doesn’t look as good from the side, and has a few other minor flaws in accordance with its price, but as I said in my review, you’ll get “slack-jaw spectacle” and excellent overall performance that can only be matched by a few rivals, most of which cost a fair bit more.
