Ange Postecoglou said Dejan Kulusevski “should be okay” after being substituted through injury in Tottenham’s 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Kulusevski went down in the 16th minute following a strong challenge from Palace defender Marc Guehi and was substituted off three minutes later after receiving treatment on his right knee.
The Sweden international, who was replaced by Mikey Moore, walked off the pitch unassisted and immediately went down the tunnel.
“He should be okay just talking to him after,” Postecoglou said in his post-match news conference when asked on Kulusevksi’s condition.
“The medical team is not too concerned with him. It’s more of a knock than anything else. We are hoping he should be okay.”
Kulusevski has not scored in any of his most recent nine Spurs appearances but has notched 10 goals and 11 assists in 50 appearances this season.
The 25-year-old’s withdrawal served as an initial concern for Postecoglou’s side ahead of their Europa League final against Manchester United on May 21. Midfielders Lucas Bergvall and James Maddison have been ruled out for the rest of the season in recent weeks.
Spurs were boosted by the return of captain Son Heung-min to their matchday squad against Palace following a seven-game absence.
Son was a 58th-minute substitute, but could not help his side to chalk back the deficit they suffered by goals either side of half-time from Eberechi Eze.
Postecoglou’s side return to action against Aston Villa on the revised date of Friday, May 16. Following an appeal from Villa and discussions with the Premier League, the fixture was rescheduled from its initial date, Sunday, May 18, due to Spurs’ concerns with its close proximity to the Europa League final.
