F1 Abu Dhabi GP live updates: Follow latest from today’s race with Lando Norris on pole

Ah, Yas Marina. Scene of arguably the most remarkable ending to a motorsport season — or one of its greatest injustices. I’ll leave you to your own views on that 2021 poser.

But the fact it took place in Abu Dhabi will be the important part for those who turned Yas Island into a global tourist destination; one that includes what many believe is the most expensive F1 track ever built.

The Hermann Tilke-designed circuit is all about its 1.2km straight through the start of sector two, with slow-speed corners at both ends helping to produce a key overtaking spot.

The track has hosted the season finale — as a night race — since 2014. The circuit has also been shorter since modifications ahead of that controversial 2021 race.

Here are the key facts from Yas Marina:

  • Circuit length: 5.28 km (3.28 miles)
  • Number of laps: 58
  • Race distance: 306 km (190 miles)
  • Lap record: 1:26.103 (Max Verstappen, 2021)
  • First GP: 2009
